Revitalize, Reimagine, and Volunteer: Unleash the Power of Good

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the Braddock Carnegie Library Association. Since the day this iconic building was saved from demolition in the 1980s, volunteers have played a pivotal role in its restoration and reopening. They have rolled up their sleeves, cleared debris, repaired plaster, raised funds, and so much more. Together, we have witnessed the incredible power of people coming together to support a cause.

Now, we invite you to be a part of this transformative journey and breathe new life into this fortress of good. The Braddock Carnegie Library Association holds a special place in the world,  it’s the first Library in the United States and it  symbolizes the power of community and the enduring spirit of helping others.

Our library's needs have come full circle. Just as Andrew Carnegie built this library to empower individuals, we now rely on caring individuals like you to carry forward his legacy. With your support, we can continue to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

We have a range of volunteer opportunities available, including:

  • Fundraising and friend raising
  • Programs & events
  • Landscaping
  • Occasional heavy labor (moving items)

To apply, complete the online application or download and fill out our volunteer application. Once completed, please return it to the Braddock Carnegie Library Association in person or via mail. Join us in this extraordinary endeavor and be a force for positive change.

Squonk Sonic Science Insta(1)

Squonk's Sonic Science Workshop
April 27 | 1pm

Join Squonk for a fun and FREE workshop exploring the science of sound and the joy of music. "Squonk in the Libraries" leaders T-Funk and Lindsey will lead games and activities for all ages at the Braddock's Battlefield History Center.

As a group we will immerse ourselves in how rhythm and sound play a part in each of our lives with exciting music and movement games, and improvisation! The workshop will include rich, creative experimentation and expression exploring the world of sound, including waves, pitch, rhythm and musical language.

We include the fascinating bridge between our left and right brain: audio and visual, science and art, while enjoying music in its rich complexity and joy!

Together, we can make a difference.

Let's write the next chapter of the Braddock Carnegie Library Association's story, one volunteer at a time.
